The Macallan distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Craigellachie, Moray. The Macallan Distillers Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Edrington Group which purchased the brand from Highland Distillers in 1999. In 2009, the Herald reported that Macallan was "the world’s third largest-selling single malt (behind Glenfiddich and Glenlivet).
Originally, The Macallan was only matured in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez, Spain. Beginning in 2004, The Macallan introduced a new main product, the Fine Oak series, with the whisky mellowed in bourbon oak casks as well as sherry ones. Macallan miniatures are rare and expensive.
According to my copy of the usually dependable 'Moss & Hume' bible, the Glen Deveron / MacDuff distillery was founded in 1962. In 1992 the owners Martini & Rossi were gobbled up by the Bacardi Corporation. They put their subsidiary John Dewar & Sons in charge of the Macduff distillery.
The Macduff / Glen Deveron malt whisky distillery is located on the far Eastern edge of Speyside, but according to their own labels it's a Highland single malt.
The distillery was founded in 1971 by John Haig & Co. Between 1985 and 1989, production was suspended and the distillery closed. It was then reopened and in 1992 started producing a Mannochmore single malt. In 1996 the black Loch Dhu /"Black Loch"/ single malt whisky was introduced.
As of 2008, Mannochmore distillery has been operated year round by its own crew of employees, though the (in)famous Loch Dhu has not been made since 1999.
The distillery was founded as "Inverness Distillery" by one Mr. Welsh in 1807. She was closed in 1985, and in 1988 many of the buildings were demolished.
Milburn whisky was an important component of the "Mill Burn" vatted malt.
Miltonduff distillery was established in 1824 by Robert Bain and Andrew Peary. She is located on the site of the meal mill of Pluscarden Abbey, six miles Southwest of the town of Elgin. Pernod Ricard (Chivas Brothers) acquired Miltonduff in 2005. Mosstowie was the name of the whisky that was distilled in two 'Lomond Stills' at the Miltonduff distillery. Mosstowie malt whisky was produced between 1964 and 1981.
Miltonduff is a core ingredient of the Ballantine's blended whisky.

Brothers David and Aleander Guthrie founded the North Port Distillery in 1820 under the name Townhead Distillery. The distillery was renamed Brechin Distillery in 1825. The Guthries changed the name of theyr facility to North Port Distillery in 1839.
Production at the distillery ceased for a period about 1926-1928 and lasting untill 1937. Production resumed in 1948 and closed permanently in 1983. The owner sold the site in 1990 and shortly afterwards was constructed a supermarket over the site.
The distillery was built in 1794 by the brothers John and Hugh Stevenson in the Scottish west coast port of Oban. The distillery has only two pot stills, making it one of the smallest in Scotland, producing a whisky. The Oban distillery is currently owned by Diageo.
The Oban Distillery is primarily known for its 14-year-old expression, which is marketed as part of Diageo's "Classic Malts Selection" range, launched in 1988. Also available is a "Distiller's Edition" bottling.
The distillery was established in 1826 AD in the name of Sir William Pulteney in the Pulteneytown area of Wick, Caithness, in the Highland area of Scotland. The distillery is now owned by Inver House Distillers.
The Old Pulteney whisky became an important part of the 'Ballantines' blends.
